  • How do you anticipate learning and development will be supported?
  • How have you targeted specific needs and interests?
  • Can you explain verbally your reasoning?

Implementation

  • How are you going to put this into practice?
  • How will it be presented to the children?
  • How is independence supported?
  • If it is a planned activity, how has it been differentiated?
  • Are there opportunities/strategies to extend learning?
  • The quality of teaching and language used

Impact

  • How you will assess the children’s learning during the activity/experience.
  • Reflection on the interest of the children, what motivated them to engage.

This course will use practical opportunities, with practitioners able to use examples from their setting and their own key children.

Supporting Staff Emotional Well Being: Mental Health in the Workplace

This course will explore issues surrounding supporting mental health issues in the workplace. Mental health problems have a big impact on staff sickness, retention, job performance and productivity, through exploring this issue we can identify how to be effective in supporting individual members of staff and generally creating a mentally healthy workplace.

We will:

  • Explore how to assess how your setting supports and promotes health and well being of staff.
  • Identify strategies and policies which can be implemented to promote a sense of well being and support individuals.
  • Signpost to organisations that can offer further help.

This course is for managers and leaders in settings, area managers and those in a role that supports staff and is a whole day course.

The Laughter Factor

This course will explore the importance of laughter as a source of joy and pleasure in children and how maybe, we should be thinking about the ‘laughter factor’ first, when planning activities and experiences.

We will:

  • Identify the importance of laughter and its link with emotional well being.
  • How laughter supports positive learning experiences.
  • How we can encourage more laughter in early years settings.
  • The all round positive impact of laughter.

This course is for anyone working with children in an early years setting and is a half day course

The training I deliver covers a wide range of subject areas and can be tweeked to fit your needs. My aim is to work with practitioners to help them reflect and develop their practice, feel inspired in their work and ultimately bring about better outcomes for children.

Practitioners need to feel engaged and involved during courses, so we discuss, we think, we talk and we do, sometimes on our own, sometimes in a small group and sometimes everyone together. I rarely use powerpoint, whilst I believe it has its place, I feel active learning is much more productive.
